SYNOPSIS: Book 1 finds Ethan, now a father, grandfather, widowed and living with his daughter, Janet Richmond and her family.  After unexpectedly re-connecting with his aging adoptive alien father, he decides to take a secret vacation with his Papon, Xerix, back to the planet, Gizmok, where he was raised.  Afterwards, on his way home again he has a serious car accident and finds himself in the hospital in a coma, during which he does far more visiting than he planned on, and is finally helped back to awareness by other family members one of whom is quite unexpected.
