The Dragons & Snogger Granx - Book ONE of NEW SERIES - The Klaxan Chronicles

A rollicking space adventure, written for kids of all ages from 10 (dependent on reading level) to 99, this story has it all; aliens, pirates, space battles, dragons, witches, kidnapping, sinister plots and edge-of-your-seat-nail-biting suspense. The story continues where Grampa Was an Alien leaves off, but no longer in the graphic novel format as the Grampa books are.

Each of the stories will focus on family values and personal growth, hidden in the content of adventure, intrigue, space battles and new discoveries.

In BOOK ONE - Lewis has a memorable first visit with his great-grandparents, who just happened to be aliens.  There’s nothing unusual about that .. except,  Lewis is a human.  To complicate matters, on their own planet, these alien great-grandparents were recently branded criminals, charged with the breaking the law.  It’s all a misunderstanding, and Lewis hopes they can be un-charged.   But, before all that happens … well … it gets a wee bit complicated.  He becomes an unwitting visitor to another planet and connects with a rather short-tempered species called Struulkor.

An almost-kidnapping, a special forces space fleet, some new alien friends,  and a really annoying smuggler help him along to deal with it all.

Joh-Peah's Secret - Book TWO - The Klaxan Chronicles

JOH-PEAH is a kribbldabler from Friggerkeld, an ice planet at the outer reaches of the Klaxarian Galaxy.    She’s not happy, especially with where she lives.  The only thing she has is an unexpected opportunity to change it all.  But there’s a catch.  She has to become something that is totally against her nature.  Can she do it in order to get what she wants?

A dangerous plot, concocted by Fire-Breth, a Struulkor from Kruptaar, has been brewing for quite some time.  Fire-Breth, the leading dragon has engaged the help of the hapless kribbldablers in order to conquer the planet Gizmok for himself.  Joh-Peah agrees to be a soldier, and joins the other recruits bound for Gizmok to  help conquer Gizmok. Along with every other kribbldabler encouraged to join the military, she has been promised a better world to live in, and  it all sounds good .... but she has her own plans, and has no intention of ever being a soldier once she gets there.  She just wants to get to the most ideal planet in the Klaxan Realms.  Everything goes wrong during the grand invasion plans until they get to Gizmok, where Joh-Peah runs into the strangest being she's ever met - a human by the name of Lewis.  From Lewis she learns the most important lesson of all.

The Baker From Krabbendam

Biography - the life and times of the author's father, Johannes Grin spanned half the globe.  From the tiny, low-lying country of the Netherlands, Johannes took his family across the ocean, looking for a land of better possibilities for a young family man wanting bigger things.

As a 4 year old he was almost dead before he had the chance to live.  He was talented, but his creativity was quashed by a stepmother who ruthlessly tried to erase his mother’s memories.  He wanted to become an artist, but he became a pastry chef when it was time to choose a career, because in his world, it was the only profession where he could exercise the urge to be creative.

After a devastating war that left his country in ruins, he bundled up his family and moved to Canada, but discovered that struggles were his lot, no matter where he went.  Funny, ambitious, creative, and flawed, Johannes fought to find his footing through the turbulent relationships with his wife and children, and did his best with the norms and tastes of a new world.  At last, instead of continuing as a pastry chef and chocolatier, Johannes became an ordinary baker.  But his glazed donuts, and his mocha butter icing were the best, bar none.

The Ballad of Blue Eagle Bill

This epic poem was first written (partially) in the middle of the 1993 commercial fishing season, and finished years later when I started this book project.  It was inspired by an event that shall forever been remembered exactly the way it's described in this book - and to be read with tongue-in-cheek.  The original back story involved a HUGE fish, and a somewhat flummoxed Captain Bill.  That's all I'm going to say.  Fully illustrated.  You gotta read it! Your kids and grandkids will love it!

PAPERBACK - children, age 5 - 8. full colour  27 pages  13.95 - large print,  Suitable for "read-to-me" time.

Nmp-Chks & Numskuls (a graphic novel)  This is the story mentioned in books one and two of the series "Grampa Was an Alien".  Now, sit back and enjoy the tallest tale you’ll ever read, about the craziest fish story Grampa Ethan ever told!

Cappy just wants to go fishing, but a little bit of bad luck in the steering department sends him into the most bizarre world he’s ever seen.  Only his deckhand, Fish seems to know a little bit about these strange beings he calls “Nimpchuks”.

Cappy is in for the fishing trip of his life, and he does everything but catch fish!  He meets, and goes up against a king, gets accused of breaking the law, escapes a cannery prison, starts a revolution, saves a gazillion fish from a fate worse than … well, death itself, and a whole lot more!

Grampa Ethan thinks these Nimpchuks are aliens from Graalkuzzer called “Nmp-Chks”, and maybe he’s right!  Whoever they are, they live somewhere you’ll probably never go to, so don’t worry too much about them … unless of course they decide to migrate south.  Then we’re all in trouble!

The Cat is Bonkers! - Adventure 1 - Home is Not a Cardboard Box

This is the first book in a series involving a kitten, with her brother, abandoned on a mountain road somewhere in the Cowichan Valley on  Vancouver Island.  She and her litter mate  encounter friends and danger alike in the wild, and meet up with an unlikely ally, who makes sure they’re rescued.  At a shelter they meet all kinds of rescued cats.  Sister is sick, and often finds herself in isolation, or taken home by a shelter worker.  The virus prevents her from being adopted for almost a year, while brother finds his forever home.

The series chronicles the story of the kitten left behind … until finally, she finds her pet mom and dad, and in the process finds her true name!

Her adventures continue after she leaves the shelter …and as the series progresses, she keeps her new kitty parents hopping as she greets each new adventure with daring and curiosity ... and a little bonkerism.
